Two months into the heart of the 2009 air show season, the industry continues to witness a trend first noticed last summer when air shows collectively saw a 10-15 percent increase in spectator attendance compared with 2007.

Plane Struck Belly-First At Very High Speed

The French agency investigating the Air France 447, which crashed in the Atlantic Ocean June 1st, says the aircraft impacted the water intact, belly first, at a very high rate of speed, the World Associated Press reported Thursday.

Issues Concerning Horizontal Stabilizers

The FAA has issues a Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin (SAIB) for owners and operators of True Flight Aerospace LLC (Grumman American) Model AA-5 airplanes (Traveler, Cheetah, Tiger), of an issue concerning the horizontal stabilizer forward spar attachment and surrounding structure in the aft fuselage area.

Offered As An Option On The Mid-Size Bizjet

Gulfstream Aerospace, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics, recently received certification from the FAA to use the second-generation Gulfstream Enhanced Vision System (EVS II) on the wide-cabin, high-speed Gulfstream G150.

Plant Makes Fuselage Sections For The Dreamliner

In a move that could result in a second assembly line for the troubled 787 Dreamliner, Boeing is planning to buy a Vought Aircraft Factory in South Carolina where portions of the 787 fuselage are fabricated. Sources close to the negotiations say the move is designed to give Boeing more control over its supply chain.

Launch preparations are under way at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida following Wednesday's successful test fueling of space shuttle Endeavour's external tank.

Most UAL Traffic Was Disrupted For Much Of The Morning

A glitch in United Airlines check-in computers at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport made it so that most of United's planes could not leave the airport for much of Thursday morning. Rather than "On Time" or "Delayed", the departure boards mostly read "Computer Failure".
