CAF Launches Campaign To Expand Number Of Local Units

History Buffs And Warbird Fans Encouraged To Apply

The Commemorative Air Force (CAF) announced plans to create new CAF Units in selected cities across the country. The organization has identified four locations to focus on – Huntsville, Ala., Birmingham, Ala., Bowling Green, Ky., and Smyrna, Tenn. These cities were chosen based on strong community interest in the CAF’s mission. While the campaign will target these selected cities, Unit locations can be started in any community, and all inquiries are welcome.

The Short Wing Piper Club Also Has An Information Booth In The Type Club Tent

By Ernest Lee In the early years of Sun-n-Fun, camping with your plane was in a small area on the east side of the field. Adair Henderson, who was chairman, and Iris Morris flew Piper Tri-Pacers and were in the newly formed Tri-Pacer Owners Club (later known as Short Wing Piper Club). As the show grew, the campground moved west. It was the "raw dirt", or the Papa taxiway extension project. Adair and Iris acquired an old mobile home so the crew would have a place to get out of the weather. About this time Adair handed off chairmanship to George Klitsch.

Sheltair Partners with SUN ‘n FUN

Pledges to 'Fuel' the Next Generation of Aviators

Sheltair has agreed to an official partnership with SUN ‘n FUN, supporting the Aerospace Center for Excellence (ACE) while becoming the official fuel provider for the world-famous airshow at Lakeland Linder International Airport. In addition to an in-kind contribution, Sheltair will donate $0.10 per gallon on all uplifts during the event to ACE's Project Skylab, a STEM learning center designed to provide hands-on activities for the next generation of aviation professionals. Since ACE's opening in 2014, SUN ‘n FUN’s proceeds have supported the non-profit aerospace organization whose mission is to engage, educate, and accelerate the aerospace industry's professionals of tomorrow.

AD: Bombardier, Inc., Airplanes

AD 2021-08-11 Requires Revising The Existing Maintenance Or Inspection Program

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain Bombardier, Inc., Model BD-700-1A10 and BD-700-1A11 airplanes. This AD was prompted by reports of one or both roll control input modules (RCIMs) being incorrectly installed. This AD requires revising the existing maintenance or inspection program, as applicable, to incorporate certain aircraft maintenance manual (AMM) tasks. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products. This AD becomes effective April 27, 2021.
