Air China Cargo Tabs Rockwell Collins Avionics For Boeing Aircraft

Package Includes Radar, Satcom, And More To Follow

Air China Cargo has selected Rockwell Collins sensors, radar and satellite communications for two Boeing 747-400F aircraft. The agreement also calls for an option on three additional aircraft. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in November.

The WXR-2100 MultiScan Hazard Weather Detection System is included in the avionics package. MultiScan is a fully automatic radar that reduces pilot workload and enhances safety and passenger comfort by reducing unexpected turbulence encounters. MultiScan provides optimal weather detection from the nose of the aircraft to 320 nautical miles.

"We're pleased that Air China Cargo sees Rockwell Collins as a provider of best-value avionics solutions for their fleet operation," said Kelly Ortberg, vice president and general manager of Air Transport Systems for Rockwell Collins.

Other Rockwell Collins equipment chosen by Air China Cargo includes the GLU-920 Multi-Mode Receiver, ADF-900 Automatic Direction Finder, DME-900 Distance Measuring Equipment, HFS-900D High Frequency System, CPL-920D Coupling Unit, LRA-900 Low-range Radio Altimeter, VOR-900 VHF Omnidirectional Radio, VHF-920 VHF Transceiver (VDL Mode 2), ADF-900 Automatic Direction Finder and the SRT-2000-3 Satellite Receiver Transmitter.
