502 United Pilots Accept Voluntary Separation Program

P-VSL Pilots Will Be Paid 50 Hours Per Month Until They Reach Age 65

Recently, all 502 United Airlines pilots who bid for Pilot Voluntary Separation Leaves (P-VSL), received awards. In accordance with Letter of Agreement 20-03, P-VSL pilots will be paid 50 hours per month until they reach age 65. They will also receive full contributions to their retirement accounts, active medical and pass travel, and other benefits in exchange for beginning separation leaves prior to their retirement date. “We are pleased that every pilot who requested early separation received an award under the advantageous terms we bargained,” said MEC Chairman Captain Todd Insler.

FAA Proposes $576,400 Civil Penalty Against FL-Based Bluefin Aviation Services

The FAA has been on the warpath lately with a series of fines and certificate actions that are creating concern and a sense of caution throughout the aviation community. The U.S. Department of Transportations Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) proposes a $576,400 civil penalty against Bluefin Aviation Services of Opa-Locka, Fla., for allegedly conducting illegal charter flights. The FAA alleges that in September 2019 and October 2019, Bluefin conducted at least 26 illegal for-hire flights using a Cessna 402B airplane to transport passengers or cargo between airports in Florida and the Bahamas. Gulfstream has opened a new company-owned service center at Palm Beach International Airport. The Left Engine Started "Surging" And Rapidly Began To Lose Power

On August 1, 2020, about 1000 eastern daylight time, a Piper PA-31-325, Canadian registration C-GXKS, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident in Sumter, South Carolina. The pilot and co-pilot sustained minor injuries. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 aerial observation flight. AD 2020-17-08 Describes The Unsafe Condition As Insufficient Electrical Bonding Of The Wing Lightning Protection Panels

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for Pacific Aerospace Limited Model 750XL airplanes with wing lightning protection panels installed. This AD results from mandatory continuing airworthiness information (MCAI) issued by the aviation authority of another country to identify and correct an unsafe condition on an aviation product. The MCAI describes the unsafe condition as insufficient electrical bonding of the wing lightning protection panels. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products. This AD is effective September 14, 2020.
