Aero-TV: Rod Machado AT WAI 2011--Read A Lot Of Books And Ask A Lot Of Questions

Rod Always Plays To Big Crowds... Listen For A Bit And See/Hear Why!

This year's Women In Aviation conference has always had much to recommend it... but one of the better ones that we know of... (dare we say it...) happens to be a GUY! Yeah... the WAI is definitely an equal opportunity event... especially when it comes to attracting talented folks from all over the aviation community. After all, no one plays as well to an aviation crowd as aviation humorist, flight instructor and safety advocate, Rod Machado.

What Ails GA? Could Aero-Clubs Solve Part Of The Problem?

One Possible Idea: Re-Inventing The 'Aero-Club' Concept For North America In the next few days, literally, we're going to take the wraps off a project we've been working on for well over a year (actually, closer to two years)... a way to retask and transform the FAILED BUSINESS MODEL of General Aviation and start a series of (occasionally) radical changes NECESSARY to see this industry survive.

Convoluted And Confusing TFR Procedures Bag Errant Pilot And Another Black Eye For GA

News/Analysis By Jim Campbell, ANN Editor-In-Chief It's a story that we've told before and will, we regret, be telling again at some point in the future. The archaic US Airspace system and the FAA's poorly thought-out TFR program have bagged another pilot... who, regrettably, should have known better.

Aero-News: Quote Of The Day (06.13.11)

"Over the course of this single weekend (and by no means is this a complete list as the FAA site is notorious for errors and downtime), there were still 3 TFRs posted for Sunday, 28 TFRs for Saturday (not including those that have since been canceled and are no longer posted), and 9 for Friday. It might have been easier to issue one 'non' TFR, to tell us where we COULD fly..." Source: From ANN E-I-C Jim Campbell's analysis of the most recent bust of one of WAY-too-many Presidential TFRs -- this time by a beech Bonanza.
