Three Planes Violate Presidential TFR In LA

None Was Determined To Be A Threat To POTUS

Another Presidential TFR ... another bunch of pilots having extended conversations with federal authorities. This time it was President Obama's recent visit to southern California which led to the TFR violations and the scrambling of F-16 fighters.

The President was in the area for a series of fundraisers, including a 600-per-plate dinner at the Regent Beverly Wilshire in LA.

The Los Angeles Times reports that one of the airplanes, a Mooney M20, touched down at Chino airport on Thursday about 0600 PDT. The other two aircraft, a Piper Cherokee and a Cessna 206, were greeted by the fighters between 0900 and 0930 and escorted out of the TFR.

The M20 pilot apparently was not aware he'd violated the TFR, but was reported to be cooperative with Secret Service agents when he was interviewed.

A day earlier, a Cessna 177 was escorted to Camarillo airport when it flew to close to a spot where the President was holding a fundraiser.
