Time’s Up for Aging Analog and Digital Clocks with Limited Functionality
Mid-Continent launches new line of CHRONOS™ digital clocks, first to offer 8 modes and USB chargers, all-in-one

Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics, a technology company and leader in the design and manufacture of aerospace products, is introducing a complete line of multifunction digital clocks to the AEA audience. The new CHRONOS™ Series features eight modes of operation: Local Time, UTC/Zulu Time, Flight Timer, Countdown Timer, Stopwatch, Volts, Outside Air Temperature (OAT) and Secondary Air Temperature. CHRONOS clocks are available with single and dual USB chargers and deliver up to 75 watts of USB power.

“There was a clear gap in the market for modern, multifunction clocks,” said Matthew Harrah, Senior Vice President of Technology and Products for Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics. “First and foremost, panel space is a premium. Our customers wanted more built-in functionality and access to fast-charging USB power, all-in-one,” Harrah continued. “CHRONOS clocks are an easy upgrade during routine maintenance, fit a standard, 2-inch panel cutout and deliver more built-in functionality than any other clock on the market.”

The new six-digit, seven-segment clocks feature external lighting control and a built-in photocell for automatic dimming. An internal, field-replaceable battery maintains Time and Flight Timer memory, without aircraft power. CHRONOS Series clocks are TSO certified and available, starting at $499 retail.

The CHRONOS™ Series Digital Clocks will be on display in the Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics and True Blue Power booth #409 throughout the AEA International Convention and Trade Show, June 22 – 25 at the Hilton Anatole, in Dallas, Texas.

A Pilot’s Dream? Flex™ Delivers Ultimate Custom Function Display
New digital instrument is a custom display, controller and data converter, all-in-one

Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics has introduced a first-of-its-kind Custom Function Display (CFD). The Flex™ MD23 Series features a customizable configuration (inputs and outputs), user interface and graphics, enabling it to function as a custom display, controller and data converter.

“This is next-level glass technology for creative avionics solutions,” said Matthew Harrah, Senior Vice President of Technology and Products. “We set out to improve systems integration and effectively eliminated the complex and costly product development process for aircraft manufacturers and fleet upgrades.”

True to its name, the flexible 2-inch digital instrument can be customized to receive and display ARINC 429, analog, discrete, frequency, temperature, absolute and differential pressure data to meet the requirements of the pilot, engineer or mission.

“Flex should not be confused with a Multi-Function Display. It is designed and certified to a much higher level,” explained Brett Williams, Vice President of Engineering. “Flex is a two-part solution: the base hardware and software are fixed, while the configuration and digital display are flexible. Each unit is customized through a unique code, specific to the application.”

Flex offers the convenience of a certified COTS (commercial-off-the-shelf) product with the custom flexibility of a build-your-own instrument. It delivers new data to the cockpit or can be a modern and enhanced replacement for legacy gauges. Applications are virtually limitless and examples include:

Radar Altimeter Display
GPS Clock
Altimeter
Cabin Pressure Indicator and Controller
Autopilot Controller
Angle of Attack Indicator
Master Caution Annunciator
Fuel Management Display
Airspeed Indicator
Vertical Speed Indicator
Data Converter
ARINC Combiner
Single/Dual/Triple Tachometer
Volt/Ammeter
Flap Indicator
Landing Gear Indicator
Engine Data Indicator
Air Data Compute

The FLEX™ Custom Function Display will be on display in the Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics and True Blue Power booth #409 throughout the AEA International Convention and Trade Show, June 22 – 25 at the Hilton Anatole, in Dallas, Texas.

True Blue Power Unleashes its Most Powerful Lithium-ion Battery Yet
New 60 amp-hour main ship battery is ideal for Part 25 aircraft and Part 29 rotorcraft

True Blue Power, the first company to receive FAA TSO certification for lithium-ion batteries, announced it has added a 60 amp-hour lithium-ion battery to its Gen5 product line. The TB60 saves up to 85 pounds per battery, significantly reducing aircraft empty weight and increasing useful load.

“This battery is a beast. It’s our most powerful battery designed for the most powerful aircraft,” explained Van Winter, Market Development Manager for True Blue Power. “It’s ideal for larger Part 25 aircraft, Part 29 rotorcraft, military and UAS platforms needing higher amp-hours for longer-running emergency and back-up power,” Winter explained.

TB60 lithium-ion battery benefits:

  • Ultra-lightweight and powerful
Weighs 55% less and delivers more amp hours per pound than any other aircraft battery

  • Real-time monitoring
Communicates real-time state-of-charge (SOC) and state-of-health (SOH) data

  • Built-in Test (BIT) indicator
Provides SOC data without the need for external test equipment, load banks or auxiliary power

  • Battery configurations programmed for each specific aircraft
Charge current limit, end-of-life capacity, minimum dispatch capacity and engine-start readiness

  • 8 years useful battery life
Up to 4x longer than lead-acid and 3 years longer than NiCad batteries

  • Environmentally friendly
Eliminates toxic metals and acid spills, significantly reduces carbon emissions and can be recycled or disposed of in area landfills

The TB60 (60 amp-hour) Lithium-ion main ship battery will be on display in the Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics and True Blue Power booth #409 throughout the AEA International Convention and Trade Show, June 22 – 25 at the Hilton Anatole, in Dallas, Texas.

True Blue Power Simplifies Charging, Discharging of Lithium-ion Aircraft Batteries, Releases Two Intelligent Battery Chargers

True Blue Power has introduced two aircraft battery chargers to the company’s line of advanced power products. The True Blue Charger PRO and True Blue Charger Mx are engineered to provide simple, safe and automatic charging for lithium-ion aircraft batteries.

“Our lithium-ion batteries contribute to a significant reduction in carbon emissions and enable lightweight, more electric aircraft to achieve success,” said Erik Ritzman, Vice President of True Blue Power. “As industry experts, we’ve leveraged years of maintenance and lithium-ion battery experience to bring two easy-to-use chargers to market. The True Blue Charger PRO and Mx take the guess work out of charging, discharging and maintaining lithium-ion batteries.”

True Blue Charger PRO
The TT28-12 True Blue Charger PRO is specifically designed to charge, discharge and test True Blue Power lithium-ion aircraft batteries. Pre-loaded with all necessary parameters, it allows maintenance personnel to safely and efficiently top charge batteries and perform scheduled capacity checks. The True Blue Charger PRO is the first and only battery charger to automatically discharge lithium-ion aircraft batteries to 30% state-of-charge (SOC), as required for air shipment.

True Blue Charger Mx Series
The TT28-2 True Blue Charger Mx Series maintains lithium-ion and sealed lead-acid aircraft batteries of any capacity, while continuously displaying battery voltage. The
2.5-amp chargers extends battery life and are an advanced battery storage solution.

The True Blue Charger PRO and Mx Series will be on display in the Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics and True Blue Power booth #409 throughout the AEA International Convention and Trade Show, June 22 – 25 at the Hilton Anatole, in Dallas, Texas.
