TeleType Announces Victor Airway Support

Knocks Down Flight Plan Entry Workload

TeleType Co. expands its TeleType GPS WorldNavigator aviation product for both VFR and IFR navigation. Victor Airways support is a powerful innovation that greatly reduces the effort required to enter complex flight routes. The Pocket PC based system allows a pilot to enter a route giving the entry fix on a Victor Airway and the exit fix for that airway. Multiple Victor Airways can be used in one flight route. While the software has been updated to be used in an IFR environment, many of the new features will also help VFR pilots seeking an easy-to-use Pocket PC based GPS system.

"TeleType is excited to bring to the Pocket PC aviation community a new level of functionality for Pocket PC GPS navigation systems," said TeleType President Ed Friedman. The company has retained the consulting services of Ed Strassberger, IFR rated private pilot, to bring this new aviation product to the market.

Features
  • Victor Airways routing support Approaches, Departures, true vector format
  • Computed Glidescope/VASI for any runway GPS Altitude Correction
  • Improved Flight Route Display Improved Flight Data Display
  • Seaplane landing air/seaports

Package Bundles

  • Choice of GPS receiver (Compact Flash or Bluetooth, both 12-channel WAAS)
  • Aviation software (including VFR and IFR features) with worldwide airport maps
  • Street mapping software offering dual functionality of air and land navigation in a single package 6 months free upgrades on 28 and 56 day update cycles
  • Yoke mount and other accessories

TeleType also offers a Pocket PC based solution with integrated foldable 12-channel antenna, software pre-installed.

Software only packages are available at $195, bundles excluding Pocket PC begin at $549, and complete systems including Pocket PC start at $799.

While the product can be used by private pilots at their discretion it should be noted that the system is not IFR certified because it is a handheld system, not a panel-mount solution. TeleType is intended for enhanced situational awareness, flight planning, monitoring, and review, not primary instrument navigation or approaches.
