It slices, it dices, it makes julienne fries... uh, almost. OK... that was an exaggeration, but Mid-Continent’s FLEX avionics system really is getting huge notice for being able to do just about anything. We talked to the MCIA gang at NBAA to get the latest update on the current state of FLEX. The upcoming electric generation of aircraft has a number of issues to surmount... powerplants., power delivery, power storage and more. But MagniX is leading the charge (so to speak) on the powerplant front with some sophisticated designs that are already flying on a number of promising airframes. Evia Aero Planning for European Commuter Line with Electric, Fixed Wing Aircraft

Eviation Aircraft has made a sale of 25 aircraft to Germany’s Evia Aero, marking a healthy order for the young, fixed-wing electric commuter. Evia Aero, a young airline that has yet to begin public service, plans to use the 9-passenger aircraft as a workhorse in its regional travel network spanning Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, and the Netherlands. The Alice should be a good fit for Evia operations, with a 250-nm range, quiet operation, and electric power.

Textron continued their NBAA lucky streak with a purchase agreement with Fly Alliance for up to 20 Cessna Citations. The order stands for 4 firm aircraft purchases with options for up to 16 additional aircraft to begin delivery of the first XLS Gen2 in 2023. Fly Alliance will add the Citations into its fleet of luxury private charter jets based out of Florida and Rhode Island.

Avidyne has announced a flight deck upgrade for the LearJet 55C, allowing owners and operators to upgrade their long-lived aircraft with modern capabilities and safety accouterments. The Dual Avidyne Atlas Flight Management System Retrofit Upgrade provides fully-coupled GPS approach capability, including LPV, LP, LNAV, and VNAV approaches. Even better, the upgrade does not require a full replacement of the legacy EFIS86-L system, allowing operators to retain their existing EFIS displays.

Demand for training in Embraer’s Praetor 500/600 jets has outpaced FlightSafety’s current pair of simulators, leading them to plan for the type’s growth by purchasing an additional unit for its Orlando, Florida location. Placing the new FFS in the school’s Orlando facility will place it about an hour by ground from the Melbourne (Florida) headquarters of Embraer Executive Jets. The area is a good fit, given the high concentration of aircraft and operators.

Controller Instructed The Pilot To Stop His Turn And Maintain 3,000 Ft MSL

On September 10, 2022, about 1237 eastern daylight time, a Beech BE-55, N3670D, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Hartwell, Georgia. The private pilot was fatally injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. According to family, the pilot flew from Florida to Georgia to attend an event.
