Vantage is a new flight display system in an upcoming product line from Avidyne. This first product is for the generation of SR20s and SR22s that have the original Avidyne display. It is an upgrade to 12 inch screens and much more powerful processing capability, along with additional system redundancies. The upgrade will be cost effective, bigger than what it replaces and all hybrid touch. The B-29 Doc History Restored Tour will resume the 2021 tour season with stops in Albuquerque, NM, Chino, CA, and Inyokern, CA, in September and October. B-29 Doc, one of only two B-29 Superfortresses still airworthy and flying today, will launch its fall tour Sept. 17 through Oct. 4. A B-17 Texas Raiders Showcase is taking place in Englewood, Colorado through September 9th, 2021. Wings Over the Rockies Exploration of Flight and the Commemorative Airforce presents the showcase of a fleet of iconic WWII aircraft, led by the B-17 Flying Fortress Texas Raiders. The aircraft will fly into Exploration of Flight at Centennial Airport and show off for seven days of cockpit tours and warbird flights. The Union Threatens To Picket Southwest During Winter Travel High Season

On August 30th, The Southwest Airlines Pilots Association filed a complaint in federal court, declaring that the carrier implemented an "emergency extended time off" program, changed schedules and modified prescription drug and retirement benefits without first consulting or bargaining with the association, in violation of federal labor law. The union represents 9,000 pilots. The “emergency extended time off” policy gave pilots the option to take time off without pay during the pandemic. The union added Southwest began leading some pilots into mandatory quarantine without pay starting December 2020 and continuing into Summer 2021.

Quarantine Pay Ends For Unvaccinated That Get The Virus

Alaska and Horizon Airlines require full vaccination by the date of hire for new employees. They will also stop quarantine pay to unvaccinated employees that contract COVID-19. “Our goal is to have as many employees vaccinated as possible,” Alaska Airline said in a statement. “We have not yet made a decision on a vaccine requirement for current employees but did implement two new policies to help us reach this goal. All new hires at Alaska and Horizon must now be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by their date of hire.”

On August 21, 2021, about 0853 central daylight time, an Aeronca 7AC airplane, N1472E, sustained substantial damage when it was involved in an accident near Fort Worth, Texas. The airline transport pilot and the passenger sustained fatal injuries.
