The EAA Air Academy will remain on hiatus until 2022, with this summer's sessions in Oshkosh canceled due to the difficulty of scheduling multiple weeks of education sessions involving young people from throughout the country. "Given the difficulties in providing the operational extras needed for youth residence camps in the current environment, it simply wasn't possible to plan a quality Air Academy experience for young aviation enthusiasts this year," said Ron Connolly, EAA's museum and education director. "We look forward to inviting many of these young people back to Oshkosh for the 2022 Air Academy sessions."

Zenith Aircraft Company introduced a new airplane designed for fun at AirVenture in July. The STOL CH-750 Super Duty is a "big version of our STOL CH-750", according to Sebastian Heinz, CEO of Zenith Aircraft. Heinz told Aero-News editor Tom Patton that the company has added a jump-seat in the rear of the airplane. The wing area has been increased to 162 square feet with a 33-foot wingspan. The gross weight of the airplane is 1,900 pounds, which takes it out of the Light Sport category, Heinz said. The FAA has assessed $5.4 million in deferred civil penalties against The Boeing Company for failing to meet its performance obligations under a 2015 settlement agreement. The Chicago-based aircraft manufacturer also agreed to pay $1.21 million to settle two pending FAA enforcement cases. Under the 2015 agreement, Boeing pledged to change its internal processes to improve and prioritize regulatory compliance. The agreement required the company to meet specific performance targets, and authorized the FAA to assess deferred penalties if it failed to do so.

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for all Pilatus Aircraft Ltd. Model PC-7 airplanes. This AD results from mandatory continuing airworthiness information (MCAI) originated by an aviation authority of another country to identify and correct an unsafe condition on an aviation product. The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for all Piper Aircraft, Inc., (Piper) Models PA-46-350P (Malibu Mirage), PA-46R-350T (Malibu Matrix), and PA-46-500TP (Malibu Meridian) airplanes.
