Classic Aero-TV: A Pitts With Some History - Ed McCaskill's Pitts S1S

This is a previously unreleased video from the ANN archives.

ANN news editor Tom Patton had a chance to talk with Ed McCaskill, the pilot and owner of a Pitts S1s. The original S-1 Pitts Special was designed by Curtis Pitts in 1944. The aircraft was popularized by Betty Skelton, Caro Bailey and other airshow performers, which led to offering plans to build the airplane in 1962. As the Pitts S1 gained popularity, requests were made to improve its inverted flight capabilities. A symmetrical airfoil was designed and added to the airplane. The designation was changed to S-1s to indicate that this airplane had the symmetrical airfoil.
