Every chair was filled, and for most it was standing room only at Pavilion 7 at Oshkosh. Anticipation filled the room Tuesday to hear Will Whitehorn, Burt Rutan and Sir Richard Branson speak on the future of space flight, and White Knight Two.

The First Pure Jet-Powered Design in the Company's History… Makes History

As previously alerted through our Aero-Twitter system, Piper Aircraft has flown the PiperJet. The new aircraft, the first pure, jet-powered, turbofan design in the company's 71-year history, made its first flight at 11:11 AM today from Piper Headquarters in Vero Beach, Fla.

Updated REMOS GX Light Sport Aircraft Makes Its Debut

Substantial Improvements Over G3 Predecessor

REMOS CEO Corvin Huber unveiled the new REMOS GX at AirVenture 2008 Tuesday. Among the changes incorporated are a new wing, changes to the fuselage that allow a greatly expanded cargo area, a ground adjustable Sensenich propeller and night VFR certification, plus design features which enhance crew safety in the event of a mishap.

First Public Flight Deemed "Amazing Success"

The Rocket Racing League did it! They flew Tuesday, and they flew up a storm. And make no mistake about it, this was no taxi test. Just after 2:30pm, former NASA astronaut Rick Searfoss took off for a demo flight. Despite threatening clouds which imposed a 2,000-foot ceiling on what was supposed to be a 4,000 foot vertical climbout after takeoff, Searfoss did a nice job improvising a "low show" to show off the rocket racer's turns and burns for the crowd. More demos are scheduled later this week for Friday and Saturday.

Source: ANN Correspondent Valentino Valencia, regarding what general aviation pilots can do to voice their concerns about unmanned aerial vehicles operating in the National Airspace System. A Monday forum on the subject at EAA AirVenture 2008 was attended by eight people, plus Valentino... a disturbing sign that while many pilots have expressed real concerns about remotely piloted aircraft flying near manned planes, few showed much of an interest in learning more about the issue.
