NASA believes that the workers at Kennedy Space Center can reflect on 2007 as a year that celebrated the agency's rich history while adding new chapters to it. Just this past July, Kennedy marked the 45th year as NASA's launch operations center. The EADS Socata’s TBM 850 program is reportedly ending a highly successful year with record sales backlog booked for 2008 and moving fast into 2009 along with production rate growth. Nicolas Chabbert, EADS Socata’s Vice President, Sales & Marketing, said that 60 TBM 850 aircraft were sold from its 2008 order book since the allocation was opened in early September of this year.

CAE Wins Eight FFS And Training Device Orders Valued At Over $C126M

Yup, 2007 continues to have been lauded as a very good year by a number of aerospace firms... such as CAE. The company has confirmed to ANN that it has signed contracts to design and manufacture eight full-flight simulators (FFSs) and associated CAE Simfinity training devices. The contracts with Continental, US Airways, Etihad, Air Algérie and Alteon Training have a total list price value of more than C$126 million and bring the total FFS sales that CAE has announced so far in fiscal 2008 to 29.

Alternative Water Tank Available for K-MAX Fire-Fighting Helicopters

Aerial firefighters operating Kaman K-MAX helicopters now have a new, highly efficient alternative water-drop system available for use when fighting forest and rangeland wild fires. The new system features a 700-gallon carbon fiber tank developed by Isolair, Inc., a Troutdale, Ore., based helicopter applications manufacturer, and Rainier Heli-lift, a Kirkland, Wash., operator of Kaman's K MAX medium-lift helicopters.

HAI has disclosed its annual Pilot of the Year Award recipient -- Mr. Franz Ivanovich Levitskiy, Pilot/Instructor, UTair Aviation, Surgut, Russia. Beginning as an M-4 co-pilot, he advanced to pilot instructor with Flight Instruction Team #2, Flight Directorate, UTair Aviation, JSc.
