Agency Also Expands Program Scope To Include Non-Commercial
Editor's Note: This is the official TSA
statement on the initiation of potentially draconian new regs that
directly affect the US GA flight training community. We'll have a
lot more to say about it over the next few days... but if this
isn't one of the most outrageous indications of the TSA's
bureaucratic indifference, ignorance and arrogance, we don't know
Carter Boswell (pictured below) and Ed Wheeler (pictured at
bottom of article) stopped by the Anywhere Map booth and picked up
colorful buttons to wear as they walked through AOPA Expo. The next
day they were “spotted” with their buttons and whisked
into the Anywhere Map booth where President Jay Humbard presented
each with a copy of Pocket Plates, Anywhere Map’s digital
approach plate system.

The Grand Ball room of the Convention Center is
techno-futuristic with jumbo screen monitors on each side of the
generous stage, sweeping background props creating a sense of wind
and motion, and two manned video cameras on platforms out in the
audience area. We are in Long Beach, California, as more than 1,100
aviation folks fill the room before 9:00 am in anticipation of the
opening presentation of AOPA Expo 2004.

vehicle mounting systems, recently introduced the VersaTrue
mounting systems. The VersaTrue mounting system is designed to
provide a sleek and reliable way to mount GPS units and other small
devices to their vehicles.
In his magnetic and humoristic way Rod Machado presented some of
the defensive secrets that have kept pilots from falling victim to
aviation's natural predators and enemies. He offered thought
patterns to help pilots make each flight with confidence and
clearly demonstrates the FAA's ignorance when considering the
'on-demand' nature of the general aviation industry. The point of
charter and private aircraft transportation is to go where you need
to when you need to. It's shocking that the FAA cannot grasp this
fundamental aspect of the industry."
