Event To Raise Funds For Youth Education Programs
Here's an opportunity to sit down to dinner with one of the air show industry's best-known performers. On Friday, January 18, 2013, Heartland EAA Chapter 1240 will sponsor "Dinner with Patty Wagstaff," three-time U.S. National Aerobatic Champion.
The Sebring EAA chapter has engineered a partnership between the chapter, the airport, and the local school board to provide educational activities for kids. Supported by a donation from aviation philanthropist James Ray, the chapter built a new 60 x 70-foot building at the Sebring Airport where they have classrooms and facilities including a large hangar space where high school children are involved in restoring two aircraft. Led by aerospace teacher John Rousch, the chapter also provides flight training scholarships. Funds raised at the Expo dinner will benefit this youth-oriented work of the chapter. The dinner event will occur in the main hangar of Lockwood Aviation Supply immediately south of the airport terminal building.
Wagstaff, a national aerobatic champion, will be the dinner’s star attraction, and she'll speak to the dinner attendees. She will also be performing in her Extra at the 2013 Expo in a first for the event.
The dinner menu consists of a barbecued brisket or Cornish Hen, red potatoes, grilled vegetables, salad, beverages, and dessert prepared by the award winning Everglades Barbecue Team.
“Jimmy Brode is doing the barbecue,” said Phil Lockwood, owner of Lockwood Aviation Supply and an active member of EAA Chapter 1240. “Jimmy travels the southeast competing in barbecue events and he’s been very successful, so the EAA dinner should be delicious.”
Single dinner tickets are $50 per person and sponsors can purchase a table for 8 at $500. Proceeds will support youth aviation education programs.
