Airborne 01.09.19: Arsenal of Democracy-Part 2, Zenith Workshops, FA Tips?

Also: New ASTM International Standard, AEA Succeeds, Pilot Shortage Forces Cancellations, Former ATP Convicted

The Arsenal of Democracy Executive Planning Committee announced that it is planning a second Arsenal of Democracy Flyover that will take place on Friday, May 8, 2020, to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II (WWII) in Europe and in the Pacific.

As part of a two-day celebration in the nation’s capital, the flyover will coincide with a ceremony for veterans at the National World War II Memorial, and will consist of a vast assortment of U.S. and Allied WWII aircraft flying overhead in 24 separate historically sequenced warbird formations. The formations will represent the War’s major battles. Back by popular demand, Zenith Aircraft Company is bringing its famous two-day hands-on kit aircraft building workshop to the Sebring Sport Aviation Expo in sunny Florida during the middle of winter. The Zenith workshops are aimed at the first-time airplane builder and have become popular. During the workshop, which begins on Wednesday (January 23) and runs until Thursday afternoon (January 24), each participant builds and assembles their own Zenith Aircraft rudder tail section from a standard kit. A second workshop session begins on Friday (January 25) and ends on Saturday (January 26). Frontier Airlines has begun asking passengers to tip its flight attendants when they collect money for snacks and drinks. The practice was pointed out on a blog called "The Points Guy", whose author JT Genter recently ordered a ginger ale on a Frontier flight. When the FA handed him the tablet to swipe his credit card, he was prompted to leave a tip for the flight attendant. He was also given an option to not leave a tip. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
