AMA Drone Report 06.27.19: Drone Racing League, Drunk Drones, Bizarre UK Comment

The Drone Racing League has announced that it will organize its first large-scale ticketed event in the United States, a stop on its world tour at Chase Field in Phoenix.

The 2019 DRL Allianz World Championship Season will include the event on September 8 at the home of MLB’s Arizona Diamondbacks. The event will also include a family-friendly zone that will include featuring DRL’s first live Artificial Intelligence Robotic Racing (AIRR) Circuit event. AIRR features autonomous DRL drones that are flown by AI technology that were developed by the 2019 Lockheed Martin AlphaPilot Team-winning engineers. You just had to know THIS was coming... The Japanese parliament has passed a law making it a criminal offense to fly a drone while intoxicated. Those convicted of flying a drone weighing more than seven ounces while intoxicated can be fined up to 300,000 yen (approx. $2,800) and face up to a year in prison. The new law also lays out fines for pilots who fly their aircraft in an unsafe manner. For instance, if a pilot intentionally plunges a drone rapidly towards a crowd, he or she could be fined up to 500,000 yen (approx. $4,600). Drone pilots, from commercial experts to novices, can now fly with greater ease, precision and confidence, with Fluidity Tech's FT Aviator. The FT Aviator is currently compatible with nearly all DJI drones and is available now for $299 on the Fluidity website. The price will go up to its ESP of $449 on July 1, 2019. Fluidity's uniquely-designed drone controller intuitively unlocks the human potential for drone flight with a more natural and exacting way of piloting. Traditional gaming-style, two-thumbed controllers are harder to master, and make it more difficult to obtain quality imagery while flying in dynamic, unscripted environments. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of the AMA Drone Report!!!
