Gulfstream Touts G700 Flight-Test Advances

G700 Reportedly Surpassing Test Milestones

Gulfstream is talking up their G700 flight-test program and the progress they are reportedly making progress with a number of accomplishments in testing and performance. The G700 was introduced in October 2019. The G700 has flown more than 100 test flights, recently completed company flutter testing and expanded the flight envelope at both high and low speeds. As part of Gulfstream’s testing efforts, the aircraft also flew beyond its maximum operating speed and cruise altitude, reaching Mach 0.99 and an altitude of 54,000 feet.

NASA Announces Astronauts to Fly on SpaceX Crew-2 Mission to ISS

Megan McArthur, Shane Kimbrough, Akihiko Hoshide, and Thomas Pesquet Get The Nod

NASA and its international partners have assigned crew members for Crew-2, which will be the second operational SpaceX Crew Dragon flight to the International Space Station as part of NASA’s Commercial Crew Program. NASA astronauts Shane Kimbrough and Megan McArthur will serve as spacecraft commander and pilot, respectively, for the mission. JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) astronaut Akihiko Hoshide and ESA (European Space Agency) astronaut Thomas Pesquet will join as mission specialists.

NetJets Puts Its European Operations Back To Work

Progress? NetJets says that it will offer to reinstate all NetJets Europe pilots and cabin crew who were furloughed back in April. Hurricane Hunters Fly First Pacific Hurricane

Aircrews Consist Of Two Pilots, An Aerial Reconnaissance Weather Officer, Navigator And Loadmaster

The Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter aircrews flew five weather reconnaissance missions into Hurricane Douglas, the season’s first hurricane in the Pacific Ocean, July 24-27, collecting data to assist Central Pacific Hurricane Center forecasters. The 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron, assigned to the 403rd Wing, Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi, departed their home base, July 22, began flying missions into Hurricane Douglas from Kalaeloa Airport, July 24, and then moved operations to Kona International Airport, Hawaii, July 26, to get out of the path of the storm, and finished their last mission, July 27.

NTSB Prelim: Piper PA46

When The Nosewheel Touched Down, The Airplane Veered Sharply Right

On July 3, 2020, about 1157 eastern daylight time, a Piper PA-46-600, N89MA, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Titusville, Florida. The pilot and two passengers were not injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. The pilot reported that he performed a traffic pattern approach to runway 27 at Space Coast Regional Airport (TIX), Titusville, Florida. The airplane crossed the runway threshold at 80 knots and landed about 3 ft left of the runway centerline. When the nosewheel touched down, the airplane veered sharply right.
