Airborne 11.06.20: AirCar Flies!, Blue Angels, Gone West: Audrey Poberezny

AirCar (V5) is the latest generation flying car that transforms from road vehicle into air vehicle in less than 3-minutes. The fifth generation flying car designed by Professor Stefan Klein completed two 1500 foot AGL pattrn flights at Piestany airport in Slovakia this week. The model safely achieved two full airport patterns, including two takeoffs and landings. The two-seat model weighs 1,100kg and can carry an additional load of 200kg per flight. Powered by a BMW 1.6L engine, the car-plane has an effective power output of 140HP. Estimated travel range of AirCar is 1,000KM and flight consumption of 18 l/hr. The Scottish International Airshow has bit the dust for this next year, and some of the details behind that situation raise a lot of questions. National Museums Scotland is part of the brain trust behind the event and confirmed that the event, originally scheduled for July 2021 in East Lothian, has been cancelled. Since 2014, the Scottish International Airshow has been bringing the very best in flight displays to Scotland. After the close of the Leuchars Airshow in 2013, organizers decided to bring the Scottish public a new airshow, based in Ayrshire. The first show, in 2014, attracted 60,000 spectators at the Ayr Low Green.

BMAA: Department For Transport Issues Guidance On National Restrictions For GA

'Private Pilots Should Not Undertake Any Sport Or Leisure Flying, In Line With The Requirement To Stay At Home'

Our friends at the British Microlight Aircraft Association let us know that new restrictions in the UK appear to include GA. They tell us that, 'National restrictions are in place in England to reduce day-to-day contact between people and help stop the spread of coronavirus. Private pilots should not undertake any sport or leisure flying, in line with the requirement to stay at home without reasonable excuse. General Aviation (GA) flying for the purposes of work, where it is not reasonably possible to work or provide those services at home, is permitted. Social distancing measures should be in place and observed at all times.

On October 25, 2020, at 1052 eastern daylight time, a Cessna 172H, N724BC, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Dunnellon, Florida. The pilot was fatally injured.
