Long-Delayed GPSIII Launch Back On Schedule

15-Minute Launch Window Opens Thursday At 1824, EST.

SpaceX is targeting Thursday, November 5 for a Falcon 9 launch of the United States Space Force’s GPS III Space Vehicle 04 from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. The 15-minute launch window opens at 6:24 p.m. EST, 23:24 UTC, and a backup opportunity is available on Friday, November 6 with a 15-minute backup window opening at 6:20 p.m. EST, 23:20 UTC. Following stage separation, SpaceX will land Falcon 9’s first stage on the “Of Course I Still Love You” droneship, which will be stationed in the Atlantic Ocean. The spacecraft will deploy approximately 1 hour and 29 minutes after liftoff.

Navy's VX-20, Pax SAR Teams Assist In Rescue Of Downed Hawkeye Crew

An NAS Patuxent River SAR MH-60S Seahawk Helped Locate All Four Downed Aviators

Two aircraft crews from NAS Patuxent River played pivotal roles in the rescue of an E-2C Hawkeye crew who had to bail out along the Atlantic Coast recently. A P-8A Poseidon assigned to Air Test and Evaluation Squadron (VX) 20 served as the on-scene commander of the rescue effort, which also involved crews from three local volunteer fire departments and personnel from NASA's Wallops Flight Facility. An MH-60S Seahawk of NAS Patuxent River's Station Search and Rescue (SAR) division helped locate all four downed aviators and, after ensuring they were uninjured and in good health, flew them back to their base.

NTSB Prelim: Thrush S2R-H80

“Engine Came Apart” And He Force Landed The Airplane In The Peanut Field

On September 28, 2020, about 1630 eastern daylight time (EDT), a Thrush S2R-H80, N6216K, was involved in an incident approximately 7 miles northwest of Donalsonville Municipal Airport (17J), Donalsonville, Georgia. The pilot was not injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 137 aerial application flight. According to the pilot, he departed 17J at 1600 EDT with 350 gallons of pesticide to spray peanut fields. While maneuvering to re-enter a field, he reported that the “engine came apart” and he force landed the airplane in the peanut field.

AD 2020-21-23 Describes The Unsafe Condition As Improperly Manufactured Horizontal Stabilizer Rear Attachment Bolts

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for Pilatus Aircraft Ltd. Models PC-12, PC-12/45, PC-12/47, and PC-12/47E airplanes. This AD was prompted by mandatory continuing airworthiness information (MCAI) issued by the aviation authority of another country to identify and correct an unsafe condition on an aviation product. The MCAI describes the unsafe condition as improperly manufactured horizontal stabilizer rear attachment bolts. If not corrected, this could lead to fatigue failure of the bolts and loss of airplane control. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products. This AD is effect

AD 2020-21-22 Requires Inspecting The Tailcone And Horizontal Stabilizer For Corrosion And Cracks

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for all Textron Aviation Inc. (Textron) Models 180, 180A, 180B, 180C, 180D, 180E, 180F, 180G, 180H, 180J, 180K, 182, 182A, 182B, 182C, 182D, 185, 185A, 185B, 185C, 185D, 185E, A185E, and A185F airplanes. This AD was prompted by a report of cracks found in the tailcone and horizontal stabilizer attachment structure. This AD requires inspecting the tailcone and horizontal stabilizer for corrosion and cracks and repairing or replacing damaged parts as necessary. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products. This AD is effective December 7, 2020.
