Seeks Help From The Hawaiian Public To Raise Another Million Miles
To help grant the wishes of local children with life-threatening medical conditions, Alaska Airlines is donating 1 million miles to Make-A-Wish Hawaii. The airline also asked the community to help raise 1 million more miles. As part of the new partnership with the nonprofit, the Seattle-based airline will also donate 100 miles to Make-A-Wish for every Hawaii resident who registers for a new Mileage Plan account during 2013, up to 1 million additional miles.

The U.S. Air Force has awarded a contract to Northrop Grumman to modernize the B-2's defensive management system (DMS). The program is designed to speed the availability of new hardware and software upgrades for the B-2 stealth bomber. The contract covers Technology Development (TD) Phase 2 of a multiyear effort by NGC, which is expected to last approximately three years.

Australian regional airline Regional Express (Rex) said recently it has serious concerns over the reported "lies and misinformation" provided by the Dubbo City Council to Deputy Premier of New South Wales (NSW) Andrew Stoner with regards to security screening at Dubbo airport. Dubbo is in New South Wales northwest of Sydney.
Over 100 Pilots Have Been Trained At The Facility Near Lake Tahoe
More than 100 pilots from several countries have been trained at Bristow Academy's facility in the Lake Tahoe region, the company announced Thursday. The Flight Training Center, which opened on May 23, 2011, specializes in high altitude operations.
An accident near Winters, CA, fatally injured the pilot of a 1959 Avions Fairey Tipsy Nipper T-66 Wednesday, and witnesses said that the airplane appeared to break up in flight. The accident occurred about 1615 PST, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The Model Aeronautical Association of Australia (MAAA) is the governing body for aeromodelling in Australia and is affiliated to the FAI through the Australian Sports Aviation Confederation. The organization also provides an industry insurance program, to its membership. This insurance cover applies when members and other insured persons/entities are involved in activities that are sanctioned by the MAAA. These activities include training, competition, social functions, committee meetings, fundraising activities and travel to and from these activities.
