Appropriations Committee Acts To Halt Any FCC Expenditures
Related To Proposal Until GPS Interference Issues Resolved
The U.S. House of Representatives Appropriations Committee today
approved action that would “fence” or halt the FCC from
expending any funds related to a conditional waiver it granted a
company called LightSquared until all concerns have been resolved
about interference with GPS.

Representatives from three members of the Coalition to Save Our
GPS called on Congress to put a stop to deployment of
LightSquared's planned broadband network in spectrum that threatens
to disrupt Global Positioning System (GPS) signals.
The Maine legislature passed a budget this week that eliminates
taxes for aircraft maintenance or the sale of aircraft and parts,
and an onerous "use tax" ... putting the state on a level
playing field for aviation taxes with other northeastern
states.
