Raptor 03, the third F-22 manufactured by the industry team of Lockheed Martin, Boeing and Pratt & Whitney, took center stage this weekend at The National Museum of the US Air Force as it became part of a new exhibit showcasing America's air dominance fighter. One of nine F-22s built for engineering, manufacture and development testing, Raptor 03 will remain on display in the museum.

Aero-News has learned that over the weekend, Boeing and Bahrain's national carrier Gulf Air finalized negotiations for up to 24 Boeing 787 Dreamliners in a deal that could be worth approximately $3.9 billion at list prices if all options are exercised. The agreement is for 16 787s on direct order, with purchase rights for eight additional planes.

The FAA is investigating an alleged air traffic control error that put two planes landing at Newark Liberty International Airport closer than federal guidelines allow. The incident occurred at 2:10pm last Wednesday, and involved Continental Flight 536, a Boeing 737 arriving from Phoenix, and Continental Express Flight 2614, an Embraer 145 arriving from Halifax, Nova Scotia, the Associated Press reports.

"Initial indications from the interviews and Flight Recorder analyses show the flight and approach to have progressed normally until the aircraft was established on late finals for Runway 27L. At approximately 600 ft and 2 miles from touch down, the Autothrottle demanded an increase in thrust from the two engines but the engines did not respond. Following further demands for increased thrust from the Autothrottle, and subsequently the flight crew moving the throttle levers, the engines similarly failed to respond. The aircraft speed reduced and the aircraft descended onto the grass short of the paved runway surface."
