Mid-Continent Instruments Unveils MD50 Static Inverter

A Lighter Option For Power Management

Mid-Continent Instruments announced Thursday the addition of the MD50 Static Inverter to its list of lighter aircraft instruments. Weighing just 3.1 lbs, the MD50 is smaller than traditional inverters, but with the same connector and footprint of legacy designs.

The MD50 supplies power for various cabin accessories such as laptops, cell phones, and iPods. Producing 500 watts of AC power, the MD50 converts 28 VDC input into 115 VAC, 60 Hz with a true sine wave.

Certified to FAA TSO C73 and RTCA-DO160F environmental standards, the MD50 Static Inverter features overload and short circuit protection, remote on/off capability and a self-cooling system. In addition to high efficiency and improved weight, the MD50 is supported by Mid-Continent's strong distribution and customer service program.

"For many years, a limited number of inverter manufacturers have forced customers to deal with high prices and long lead times," said Tom Genovese, Director of Sales. "This changes as the MD50 provides a less expensive option with better availability."

The MD50 Static Inverter is the latest addition to a line of power management products from Mid-Continent Instruments. Other products include the MD26 - a classic DC to AC solid-state "peanut" inverter; the 4300 Series Lifesaver, the only electric attitude indicator with self-contained battery backup; and, the MD420 and the new MD800 Series -- a state-of-the-art Lithium Emergency Power Supply that weighs less, costs less and charges faster.
