The last few months have not been good tot he world of aviation... but last fall, there was plenty of data to support the premise that 2013 would be no easier than 2012... and NBAA 2012 provided an amazing place to discuss these issues.
In this segment, Congressman John Mica opines as to the view he sees out of Washington and the cumulative effects that aviation may have to counter.
Congressman John L. Mica was first elected to the House of Representatives in 1992 to represent Florida’s 7th Congressional District which includes Orange, Seminole and Volusia Counties. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Government Operations in the Oversight and Government Reform Committee.
From 2007 to 2010, Mica served as the Transportation Committee’s Republican Leader. From 2001 to 2006, he chaired the Subcommittee on Aviation. During the aftermath of 9/11, he helped develop national transportation security policy and also successfully worked to restore the hard-hit aviation industry.
NBAA2012 closed with 25,150 people in attendance, a number comparable to the final Attendee total of 26,077 for the 2011 Convention, and to the final Attendee total of 24,206 for the 2010 event. The number of Exhibitors at the Orange County Convention Center was 1,073; booth spaces totaled 4,361, an increase over last year’s booth-space total. A total of 105 aircraft were shown on two separate static displays, and an additional four aircraft were shown inside the convention center. The show drew Attendees from all 50 U.S. states and 87 countries.
