Airborne 10.18.23: 100th King Air 360, BizAv Outlook, 500th TBM 900 Series

Textron Aviation has delivered the one-hundredth Beechcraft King Air 360 twin-turboprop to longtime Textron Aviation customer Comprehensive Blood and Cancer Center (CBCC). The delivery evinces the hegemony with which the King Air name has been synonymous since the 1960s. Over the 59-years since the King Air family’s 1964 introduction, nearly 7,800 specimens of the twin-turboprop have been produced. Founded in 2015 by Omer Bar-Yohay, Omri Regev, and Aviv Tzidon, Washington State-based Eviation is an aerospace technology concern about the business of developing an all-electric, nine-passenger, regional aircraft to which the company has ascribed the whimsical sobriquet Alice. In October 2023 Eviation announced flyVbird, an emerging, on-demand, German regional airline, had signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) for 25 Alice aircraft, with options for a further 25. flyVbird, which has yet to secure an Air Carrier Certificate of its own, intends to service rural areas via smaller, more accessible airports.

NTSB Prelim: Piper PA-18-135

During A Banner Tow Operation, The Pilot Seat Broke, And He Slid Aft About A Foot

On September 3, 2023, about 1420 Pacific daylight time, a Piper PA-18-135, N7199K, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Compton, California. The pilot sustained minor injuries. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 banner tow flight. The pilot reported that shortly after takeoff, during a banner tow operation, the pilot seat broke, and he slid aft about a foot. The airplane  pitched up in a nose high attitude, causing him to further slide aft. Unable to push the flight control stick forward, he let go of the flight controls and used the crossbeam to pull himself forward.
