According to the latest Airbus Global Market Forecast (GMF) the Brazilian air travel market will need 1,324 aircraft by 2032 to address the country’s rising international and domestic air travel requirements. The 896 single-aisle, 353 twin-aisle and 75 very large aircraft (VLA) are forecast to help meet the rising demand from domestic and foreign carriers in Brazil almost tripling the in-service fleet from today’s 480 to more than 1320 aircraft by 2032.

Full Operations Resumed Saturday

NASA's Mars rover Curiosity resumed full science operations on Saturday, Nov. 23. Activities over the weekend included use of Curiosity’s robotic arm to deliver portions of powdered rock to a laboratory inside the rover. The powder has been stored in the arm since the rover collected it by drilling into the target rock "Cumberland" six months ago. Several portions of the powder have already been analyzed.

Will Warn Operators Of Icing Issue On Dreamliner, 747-8 Engines

The FAA is expected to issue an AD this week warning airlines flying Dreamliners and 747-8 airplanes powered by GEnx engines to avoid flying near towering thunderstorms. There have been several reports of ice building up behind the first compressor fan of the engines in such conditions, and the ingested ice has led to a temporary reduction of power in the engines.

Union Holds Informational Pickets At Airports Across The U.S.

United Airlines (UAL) professional aviation mechanics represented by the Teamsters Union held informational pickets at 10 major airports around the country Monday. United Airlines mechanics are informing the public that they may be forced to strike if the company refuses to keep its promise to reinstate the workers' pension plans.

"We weathered the storm with United Airlines when times were tough and now they want to leave us out in the cold. It is insulting that United Airlines is asking me to pay an extra $300-$500 each month for my health care when the company brought in record profits last year."
