Order Book Set To Open At EBACE 2014

While the official opening of the order book will not take place until EBACE 2014, Pilatus has announced that Falcon Aviation Services of Abu Dhabi has decided to enter into a Letter Of Intent thus confirming their strong interest in the newest Pilatus aircraft. The Letter Of Intent was signed Monday during a ceremony in Pilatus’ Chalet A 56 at the Dubai Airshow.

Grants S-LSA Approval For The Sport Airplane

American Legend Aircraft Company announced today its Super Legend has completed S-LSA approval and FAA certification review. The Super Legend is a Lycoming-powered version of the Legend Cub. It features wing flaps, larger tail feathers, an enhanced baggage area, extended windows, carbon fiber components and adjustable seating.

The UAV Technology Demonstrator Successfully Performed Remotely Piloted Full Test Flight

Piaggio Aero, together with Selex ES, announced at the Dubai Air Show 2013 that the P.1HH HammerHead Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) has achieved the demonstration and validation phase of the program with the maiden flight of the P.1HH DEMO, Piaggio Aero’s UAV technology demonstrator. The P.1HH HammerHead UAS platform is a derivative of the Piaggio Aero P.180 Avanti II aircraft, newly designed for ISR multi mission purposes.

Engineers and safety specialists from NASA and Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX) met in late October to review the safety of the Dragon spacecraft and Falcon 9 rocket being developed to launch humans into low-Earth orbit later this decade. The detailed overview of safety practices the company is implementing was a major milestone for SpaceX under a funded Space Act Agreement with NASA's Commercial Crew Program (CCP).

The FAA has granted certification for Bombardier's Learjet 75 aircraft. FAA certification for Learjet 75 aircraft was received on November 14, 2013. Certification and delivery efforts and activities are in progress for the Learjet 70 aircraft.

Largest-Ever Boeing Single-Aisle Airplane Purchase In Middle East

Boeing and flydubai have announced a commitment for up to 100 737 MAX 8 airplanes and 11 Next-Generation 737-800s on the opening day of the Dubai Airshow. The commitment from the airline of the emirate of Dubai, valued at $11.4 billion at list prices (including orders and purchase rights), is the largest ever Boeing single-aisle airplane purchase in the Middle East.

The new helicopters provide Head of State transportation along with another S-92 helicopter operated by the TNP since 2005.

At Sunday’s opening day of the Dubai Air Show, GE Aviation received $26 billion in jet engine orders and services agreements for wide-body Boeing aircraft from three leading airlines in the Middle East. Rolls-Royce has won a $5 billion order from Etihad Airways for Trent XWB engines to power 50 Airbus A350 XWB aircraft. The order includes long-term TotalCare support. Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has ordered 24 A350-900 Regional, 16 A350-900 and 10 A350-1000 aircraft.

NASA Launches Mission To Study Upper Atmosphere Of Mars

MAVEN Spacecraft Boosted From Cape Canaveral Monday Afternoon

A NASA mission that will investigate how Mars lost its atmosphere and abundant liquid water launched into space at 1328 EST Monday from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. The agency's Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution (MAVEN) spacecraft separated from an Atlas V Centaur rocket's second stage 53 minutes after launch. The solar arrays deployed approximately one hour after launch and currently power the spacecraft. MAVEN now is embarking on a 10-month interplanetary cruise before arriving at Mars next September.
