5,000 People Witness First Public Flight

EAA officials report as many as 5,000 eager spectators were on hand Tuesday morning on AeroShell Square to witness the first public flight of the much-anticipated Martin Jetpack... and having been among that crowd ourselves, we think that number might even be slightly low.

Frontier Airlines announced Monday it has received a $75 million commitment in post-petition debtor-in-possession (DIP) financing from Perseus LLC. A lawyer speaking on behalf of Peggy Fossett has dismissed claims that his client's husband, aviation adventurer Steve Fossett, may have faked his own death. Michael LoVallo disputed suggestions from investigators and insurance assessors that the record setting pilot could still be alive after his mysterious disappearance in the Nevada desert 10 months ago.

Died In Her Sleep... At Oshkosh

Another World War II flyer, and one of EAA's Timeless Voices, went west this week... and from AirVenture, no less. Margaret Ringenberg, 87, passed away in her sleep Monday morning, reports The Fort Wayne Journal Gazette.

Breaks Ground On New Facility At X26

LoPresti Aviation and Florida's Sebastian Municipal Airport (X26) broke ground on a new $1.4 million hangar on July 19. This marked the beginning of a 15-year lease agreement.
