AD: The Boeing Company Airplanes

AD NUMBER: 2018-26-06

PRODUCT: All Boeing Model 737-600, -700, -700C, -800, -900, and -900ER series airplanes.

ACTION: Final Rule.

SUMMARY: This AD was prompted by reports of loose, worn, or missing attachment bolts for the main landing gear (MLG) center door assemblies.

This AD requires repetitive detailed inspections of the forward and aft MLG center door assembly attachments for loose, missing, damaged, or bottomed-out attachment bolts, and any wear to the retention clip assemblies as applicable; and applicable on-condition actions.

This AD also provides an optional terminating action for the repetitive inspections.

DATES: This AD is effective February 1, 2019.

COST: The FAA estimates that this AD affects 1,814 airplanes of U.S. registry. Operators may incur the following costs in order to comply with this AD:

  • Inspection: 2 work-hours × $85 per hour = $170 per inspection cycle per airplane.
  • Modification: Up to 6 work-hours × $85 per hour = $510. Parts: $2,900. Cost per airplane: Up to $3,410.
