Third Eye Blind Highlights EAA AirVenture Oshkosh Opening Day Concert

San Francisco-Based Band To Perform July 25

Third Eye Blind, the San Francisco-based band that has sold more than 12 million records with a string of Top 20 hits, will get EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2016 off to an energetic start when it headlines the fly-in’s popular opening night concert on Monday, July 25.

The concert, presented by Ford Motor Company, is free to all AirVenture opening-day attendees and will be held on Boeing Centennial Plaza immediately following the afternoon air show. The 64th annual Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) fly-in convention is July 25-31 at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh.

“Third Eye Blind has been a consistent hit-maker and outstanding live performance band for nearly two decades,” said Rick Larsen, EAA vice president of communities and member programs who coordinates AirVenture features and attractions. “They bring an energetic sound and connect with their audiences, which is a tremendous way to start the week at the ‘World’s Greatest Aviation Celebration’ here in Oshkosh.”

Third Eye Blind’s Top 10 hits include “Semi-Charmed Life,” “Jumper,” and “How’s It Going to Be,” with “Never Let You Go” reaching the Top 20. The band, often simply known as 3EB, has recorded four best-selling albums and has maintained an enthusiastic following for nearly two decades.

“Ford is proud to be the exclusive automotive partner with EAA for more than a decade, and is again pleased to enhance the AirVenture experience by presenting the opening-night concert for the 11th consecutive year,” said Edsel B. Ford II, member of the Ford Motor Company board of directors. “Some of the biggest names in music have performed at Oshkosh since 2006, and we’re eager to have Third Eye Blind join that roster on July 25.”

Third Eye Blind’s performance will add to a stellar list of musicians who have played at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh’s opening night. Past headlining performers have included the Beach Boys, Foreigner, the Doobie Brothers, and a pair of 2016 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees — Chicago and The Steve Miller Band. Last year, country star and pilot Dierks Bentley brought thousands of people together to experience a memorable Oshkosh performance.

The July 25 concert is just one of the many attractions, aviation highlights, and educational features of EAA AirVenture Oshkosh week. These added activities are nearly all included with AirVenture admission.
