Aero-News: Quote of the Day

ANN's Quote of the Day usually derives from current news, though we reserve the right to pick quotes out of history that have a bearing on the day's events and issues.

Sometimes, you'll find them timely and in keeping with the content of the day's news... and sometimes, they'll just be thought-provoking.

Reader suggestions and comments are welcome... and if particularly intriguing, timely, or poignant, may themselves become future Quotes of the Day.

Let us hear from you, folks!

Aero-News Quote of the Day

"NBAA commends the efforts made by Senators Inouye (D-HI), Stevens (R-AK), Baucus (D-MT), Grassley (R-IA), Rockefeller (D-WVA), Hutchison (R-TX) and Roberts (R-KS), among others, to reach an agreement on the FAA financing portion of the bill. In terms of FAA funding, they have reached a workable, reasonable compromise that builds on the proven and effective general aviation fuel tax. Given the importance of air transportation to our nation's economy and citizens' quality of life, we hope the Senate will recommit itself to passing an FAA reauthorization bill this year."

Source: Ed Bolen, president of the National Business Aviation Association, commending Congress for its work to date to fund the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and modernize the nation's aviation system... and urging the Senate to continue its work for passage of FAA reauthorization legislation. However, consideration of the measure was suspended by the Senate, after a procedural vote unrelated to FAA reauthorization and funding.
