British Aircraft Was Damaged, No Fatalities Were Reported
A British Chinook helicopter on a training mission northeast of Yuma, AZ Saturday was involved in what was described as a "mishap" on a landing approach. There were seven people on board at the time of the accident, but none suffered more than minor injuries.
Michelle Dee, a spokeswoman for California's Naval Air Facility El Centro, said only that "something went wrong" during the approach. She said she did not know the extent of the damage to the aircraft, but there were no life-threatening injuries among those on board, according to the Associated Press.
The area is used for training prior to deployment to Afghanistan because of similarities in climate and terrain. (RAF Chinook file photo)
