Wrapping Up The Week of Nightly LIVE Shows From Oshkosh 2011!!!

Welcome to our final daily wrap-up program from AirVenture at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Boeing's Dreamliner made is U.S. public debut at Oshkosh today, executing one low pass over the airfield before touching down on runway 36L and making the turn at the intersection for Conoco-Phillips Plaza, just 6000 feet down the runway.

A group of well-known aviation companies held a news conference Friday at Oshkosh to announce the construction of a multi-faceted aviation research and development laboratory, located in San Marcos, TX. The new facility, designated Redbird Skyport, is scheduled to open on November 8, 2011.

Eclipse Aerospace said in a news release Friday that it has sold five "Total Eclipse" Twin-Engine Jet Aircraft during the show this week. All five of these jets will be delivered to individual customers within 45 days. Eclipse Chairman and CEO Mason Holland said “Enthusiasm is really building for our Eclipse Jet. With the return of the 41,000 foot certified service ceiling, interest here at AirVenture has really been overwhelming."

LoPresti Speed Merchants today announced a unique approach to turning the Fury, which was designed to be a certified, mass-produced airplane, back into a pile of parts for an eager kit market.

It was a big day for Women in Aviation International today at AirVenture. They held their annual celebrity breakfast and drew an estimated 200 WAI members and leaders from the aviation industry past and present. Members of the WASP were greeted with loud cheers.

A one-of-a-kind “Blue Angels” edition 2012 Ford Mustang GT sold for $400,000 at the Gathering of Eagles charity auction Thursday evening. A man from California purchased the vehicle. All proceeds from the car donation and sale will benefit the EAA Young Eagles organization, which the organization says has provided free introductory flights to more than 1.6 million young people since 1992 while also teaching the value of hard work, personal responsibility and enhanced math and science skills.

Those were some of the stories making news at Oshkosh for Friday, July 29th. In today's interview, ANN's Jim Campbell talked with Redbird's Jerry Gregoire about the simulator business and the new Skyport facility announced today.
