F30 By Golden Avio Comes To US Sport Aviation EXPO 2013

Stelio Frati's last design to become LSA Certified

By John Ylinen

Golden Avio made their first exhibit at the 2013 US Sport Aviation EXPO.  It was the last plane designed by the legendary Italian designer Stelio Frati.  With over 19 aircraft designed over his 91 year career, this has to be one of his best.

With many LSAs looking the same, this one is one of the most stunning aerodynamic lines.

The F30 has already been German certified LTF UL and it has already been produced as ADVANCED ULM. The airframe structure is completely made of aluminum and many details (engine mount, pedal, etc.) are made in titanium.

The F30 is powered by a Rotax 912 ULS. The fuel tank is placed in the aft section of the fuselage, which Golden Avio says is helps reduce the risk of explosion in an accident.

The company says the airplane has a MTOW of 1,039 pounds, with an empty weight of 636 pounds. It will take off in 492 feet and cruise at 108 knots. Full-flap stall speed is listed as 35 knots. The airplane will carry a touch over 21 gallons of fuel, and lists a range of 745 statute miles.

The interior is what you would expect of an Italian sports car.  Golden Avio plans several levels of finish with prices ranging from $126,000 to $139,000.
