NEW Twice-Weekly Airborne 07.06.12: Avidyne IFD440, AirFrance 447, Hawker Beech

Also: MAFFS Fly Again, Boeing Forecasts Big Bucks, Taco Bell Delivers... By Air, and 'Speak Up!' At Oshkosh

Guess what??? GREAT NEWS!! Another Aero-Week means TWICE AS MUCH Aero-News! Airborne now comes to you TWICE a week, Tuesday and Fridays, (with occasional exceptions for special event weeks and associated coverage). Each week, you’ll get your dose of Airborne on Tuesday as well as Friday, allowing us to make the news more timely for you.

Ya gotta hand it to them.... despite a bad economy, an even tougher regulatory environment, and the industry doldrums, Avidyne seems bound and determined to innovate themselves past the worst of recent times. ANN has confirmed that Avidyne is introducing the IFD440 FMS/GPS/NAV/COM system with a ‘Hybrid-Touch’ user interface. Taking on the 600 pound gorilla from Olathe, the plug-and-play replacement for legacy GNS430-series navigators, the IFD440 can reduce installation cost and downtime for customers looking to add touch screen, or who are upgrading their aircraft to meet the higher-precision requirements for SBAS/LPV and ADS-B. Hawker Beechcraft late last week filed paperwork in bankruptcy court that establishes a framework for resolving the company's debts with its creditors, and also how it plans to transfer ownership of the company to those creditors. BEA… the French agency charged with investigating aviation accidents… has released its final report in the accident of Air France Flight 447, which went down in the Atlantic Ocean June 1st, 2009, resulting in the fatal injury of all 228 people on board. We have ALL this and SO MUCH MORE in this edition of AIRBORNE!

As always, PLEASE keep sending us your feedback and ideas... you have no idea how important that is to us as we evolve the Airborne mission. As we listen to your critiques, we're getting a far better idea as to how to tweak and fine-tune future Airborne programming to fit your needs. We think you're going to like what we have in mind for the future.

Don’t forget that we’ll be bringing you live coverage of Oshkosh again this year, with Daily Airborne Programs, Monday through Friday, July 23rd through 27th at 8PM Central Time. We hope you’ll join us.

Airborne 07.06.12 is chock full of info about the week ending Friday, July 6th, 2012...
