Amazon has announced that customers in Lockeford, California, will start receiving package deliveries by drone later this year. The community of 3,500 will be among the first U.S. locations to receive free drone delivery of Amazon products within 30 minutes. Amazon has begun contacting customers in Lockeford for purpose of inquiring after their interest in drone delivery. Once enrolled, customers will be visited by Amazon personnel who will determine whether or not  the areas adjacent the customer’s homes are conducive to drone deliverie

Jetson—the Swedish technology company with the stated, long-term goal of democratizing flight—has completed what may be the world’s first-ever eVTOL commute with its single-seater eVTOL aircraft. NASA Asteroid Exploratory Mission Delayed

Psyche!

NASA has announced that its Psyche mission—the agency’s first attempt to study a metal-rich asteroid—will not launch in 2022. The agency states the delay is attributable to the late delivery of guidance, navigation, and flight software, as well as mission-critical test equipment. In addition to controlling the inflight orientation of the spacecraft, the tardy software was to have provided trajectory information to Psyche’s solar electric propulsion system, which would have begun operating seventy-days post-launch.

Cyprus to Receive Airbus H145M Helicopters

Popular Aircraft to Serve Cypriot National Guard

The Government of Cyprus, the east Mediterranean island-nation, has signed an agreement with Airbus for the purchase of six H145M helicopters with an option for an additional six aircraft. The twin-engine helicopters will be operated by the Cypriot National Guard. The H145M is a light, multi-role, utility, military helicopter derivative of the civilian H145. The aircraft’s latest iteration features a bearing-less, low-maintenance, five-bladed main-rotor system that increases vehicle payload by 150-kilograms.

NTSB Prelim: Schweizer SGS135

Pilot Was Found Strapped In His Parachute And Harness With The Canopy Closed

On June 5, 2022, about 1630 central daylight time, a Schweizer SGS135C glider, N2817H, was undamaged when the pilot was found deceased after a landing near Midlothian, Texas. The glider was operated under the provisions of Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 as a personal flight. According to members of the Texas Soaring Association (TSA), the pilot was launched via a towplane around 1500 that day. About 1700, the glider was found by another pilot when he landed at the TSA Gliderport (TA11), Midlothian, Texas.
