Aviation Students To Get Scholarships At Aero Club Dinner Nov. 20

Two High School And Four College Students Will Recieve A Total Of $25,000 Six outstanding local high school and college students will receive scholarship grants from the Aero Club of Southern California at a dinner at the Flight Path Museum at LAX on Wednesday, November 20. In addition eight pilots will receive certificates from the National Aeronautic Association for setting new climb and speed records in paragliders, jet liners, private planes and warbirds.

P. Hersman was officially sworn in last week for a third two-year term as NTSB Chairman. Serving as Chairman since 2009, Hersman was nominated for a third term by President Barack Obama on August 1, and confirmed by the U.S. Senate on October 16. International Space Station crews commuting to and from their orbiting laboratory will be busy this November. Traffic starts to pick up Friday, Nov. 1. Airman Receives Distinguished Flying Cross With Valor

Credited With Saving The Lives Of Three Critically-Wounded Soldiers In Afghanistan

A Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center student here was recognized Oct. 17 with the Distinguished Flying Cross for his heroic actions in Afghanistan in December 2012. Capt. Charles C. Napier is credited for saving the lives of three critically-wounded Soldiers in an Afghan village west of Kandahar.
