Full U.S. House Passes FAA Funding Extension, Bill Goes To The Senate

Latest Continuing Resolution Pays For FAA Through January 30th, 2012

In a move that practically assures that Congress will not pass a long-term funding bill for the FAA this year, the U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday passed a package of extensions for funding multiple transportation programs, including the FAA, that will keep the agency open through January 30th, 2012. The measure now goes on to the Senate, where at least one Senator has said he may try to block the bill on a topic not related to aviation or the FAA.

"Legacy of Heroes" is the name of the demonstration tour launched late last week by Sikorsky with a specially customized S-92 helicopter. 103 Years Of Aviation History... In One Man's Life

As if the news of Cliff Robertson's passing wasn't enough to bear, we've learned that another true aviation legend has passed on. Mort brown was a 103 year old aviation icon who witnessed more aviation history than anyone I know. Mort was the first Chief Pilot of Production Flight Test, Cessna Aircraft Company, from 1937 - 1972. During Mort's nearly 35 years with Cessna, it has been calculated that Mort was responsible for releasing over 85,000 airplanes through Production Flight Test, of which Mort personally logged over 14,000 first flights. Mort accumulated over 20,760 actual flight hours on various airplanes.

NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen on Monday issued a statement in response to news that President Obama's jobs plan (the American Jobs Act), unveiled Monday, includes a provision singling out business aviation with a proposal to lengthen tax-depreciation schedules for business aircraft. Alleges Company Made Improper Repairs to 44 B737-300s

The FAA is proposing a $1.1 million civil penalty against Aviation Technical Services, Inc. (ATS), of Everett, WA, for allegedly making improper repairs to 44 Southwest Airlines B-737-300s. The FAA alleges that ATS failed to accomplish all the work required by three FAA airworthiness directives calling for five repetitive inspections and a one-time inspection to find and repair fatigue cracks in the fuselage skins of the planes.
