Florida Governor Protects Airport With Veto Pen

Just Says "No" To Building School Under MIA Approach

Florida Gov. Jeb Bush recently vetoed a bill that would have permitted construction of a school underneath the approach path to Miami International Airport. In a letter of thanks to the governor, AOPA President Phil Boyer wrote, "Your veto message underscores the common-sense rationale for compatible land-use planning around airports: 'The state's overarching policy presumes the paramount importance of protecting our children and teachers by forbidding construction of schools under flight paths.'"

Lights, camera, action! Like migratory birds, Cirrus owners flocked back to the birth place of their airplanes this past weekend. Cirrus Design in Duluth hosted this Second Annual Migration sponsored by the Cirrus Owner and Pilots Association (COPA). Even though the visibility was one-eighth of a mile early Sunday morning, the weather was spectacular in Duluth for this terrific gathering on Friday and Saturday.

Source: Continental Airlines' Anchorage general manager, Brenee Davis, who told the Anchorage Daily News several pounds of fish missing since June 24th have turned up in her baggage handling system. The fish was found underneath the baggage conveyor Continental shares with Frontier Flying Service, after an irate passenger on a flight from Anchorage to SEA-TAC reported his fish had been filched. Fish found. Fragrant flounder is now filling the baggage area with an aroma that has to be sniffed to be believed.
