Comprehensive Home Page Re-Design And More Launched
As part of the August 2009 Web Improvements to the FAA.gov
website, you’ll notice a completely new look, along with
redesigned “Air Traffic” and “NextGen”
pages, and an improved Airworthiness Directives search. These
updates represent the most comprehensive round of enhancements to
FAA.gov this year. Part of the 2009 Web Improvement Program for
FAA.gov, this launch is the sixth group of enhancements this
year.
Among the August Web Improvements now live on FAA.gov:
A comprehensive website re-design. FAA has redesigned the home
page as well as all interior pages. You’ll notice a refreshed
color scheme, compelling new graphics, and streamlined navigation
that’s more visually connected to the main navigation tabs.
You’ll also see we’ve relocated the page tools on each
interior page directly under the title bar and added a more
relevant, usable footer. This redesign is based on convincing data
from our web usage reports, user satisfaction surveys and direct
interviews with website customers.
A new air traffic page. This popular webpage has been updated
to make it more visually interesting and effective. You’ll
find a new interactive look-up for airports status & delays, an
interactive search feature for air traffic Orders & Notices,
and an aviation weather feature that displays data from
NOAA’s National Weather Service. We’ve also added a new
content area called “Air Traffic 101” that provides an
overview of the air traffic control system.
The NextGen webpage is among the most visited on FAA.gov. The
design and layout have been refreshed to elevate key content and to
make it more accessible to users. On the new page, you’ll
find a scrolling NextGen news & media section that’s
similar to the news area on FAA.gov’s home page.
Additionally, we’ve enhanced the NextGen video library to
make all videos viewable from the redesigned webpage.
Improved AD search allows you to search for text not just in
the AD title, but in the body of the AD as well You can limit the
search to a particular product type such as engines or aircraft,
and do a true "browse by appliance." Also, the search box displays
a list of matching ADs as soon as you start typing. You can select
an AD from the drop-down list or click Search to see the full
results list.
FAA says they welcome your feedback on the new designs and
features, so let them know what you think.
