Georgia Pilot 'Embarrassed' About Latest ADIZ Incursion

Wife: "It Was An Honest Mistake"

If you talk to Scott Murwin anytime soon, he'll probably tell you how bad he feels about busting the Washington ADIZ earlier this week.

As ANN reported, his King Air 350 entered the restricted airspace Wednesday and had to be escorted to the airport in Winchester, VA, where he was questioned by federal authorities before being released.

Murwin's aircraft, owned by Standridge Color Corp., had just flown some executives to Wilmington, DE, and was on its way to Ohio, when he canceled IFR and then deviated to within eight miles of the US Capitol before being intercepted by a pair of F-16s. The deviation was reportedly weather-related.

"He just got off course," wife Debbie Murwin told the Athens, GA, Banner-Herald. "It was an honest mistake and there aren't going to be any charges filed."
