When business is "not
all that good," sometimes the smartest thing one can do is to fight
the urge to curtail your activities with the rest of your
competition and get ahead before they do likewise. A Manitoba
airline continues to develop and expand its service offerings, with
the launch of an airframe structural repair center to provide
service to the local, regional and national aviation industry.
Under the guidance of Satbachan Soor, a certified S Licenced
AME, the repair center has been opened in the Skyward hangar
property. Soor, who previously operated Saskatoon Aircraft
Rebuilders has relocated to Winnipeg to undertake this new offering
by Skyward. “We will specialize in the smaller commuter
aircraft and insurance claims” states Soor, “Other
local airframe repair service providers tend to focus on larger
projects.”
While the center will be maintained under the existing Skyward
structure and not as a separate entity, to identify the various
aspects of the Skyward operation, a working name of SkyStructures
is being used internally to identify the new operation. Gordon
Peters, Skyward Director offers, “ The development of this
center will further extend the services that Skyward can offer, not
only for our own fleet but to external aircraft operators as
well.” Peters further went on to state, “We now have
the complete range of aviation maintenance offered through
our Winnipeg operation, that being, mechanical, structural and
avionics engineers.”
Skyward is a Manitoba company operating since 1987, providing
scheduled and specialty Medevac services throughout Manitoba and a
full service charter operation for destinations throughout Canada
and the USA. Skyward is headquartered in Thompson, Manitoba.
