TSA Agent Fatally Injured In Shooting At KLAX

Terminal 3 Evacuated Friday Morning Due To Shooting

ANN Realtime Update 11.01.2013  1730 EDT

The TSA has now confirmed that one of its agents was fatally wounded by a gunman who opened fire in Terminal 3 of the Los Angeles International Airport (KLAX) Friday morning. Three other officers were also wounded by the shooter.

KCBS in Los Angeles reports that the suspect is 23-year-old Paul Ciancia. He has an address in New Jersey, but authorities say he has also lived in the Los Angeles area.

Ciancia is reportedly not listed on any government terror databases or watchlists.

The officer who was killed has not been identified.

Original Story

A shooting took place Friday morning at Los Angeles International Airport Terminal 3 (KLAX) that resulted in a gunman being taken into custody.

Multiple media sources from the West Coast including KCBS in Los Angeles report that a person allegedly carrying a high-powered rifle was "shot and secured by law enforcement personnel" Friday morning. The incident prompted the evacuation of Terminal 3 at KLAX.

A passenger told the station that TSA agents moved through the terminal yelling that a man had a gun. "I heard popping and everybody dropped to the ground," said witness Robert Perez.

Passengers on flights arriving at the terminal were transported by buses to a secure area.

There are unconfirmed reports that a TSA agent was struck in the leg by a bullet.

A message posted on the Twitter account for KLAX at 0937 PDT stated that "There is an incident underway at LAX. Law enforcement is on scene. More information to follow."
