Jabiru Kits Get 51% Recognition

While it's often assumed by builders of kit aircraft that the kits they are working on are going to be plenty labor-intensive for the FAA to "bless" their work under the "51% Rule," it's always reassuring to know that the kit itself is indeed on the official list. That list has again been revised, adding popular Jabiru models.

Officially speaking, "The following kits have been added to the kit listing since the April 10, 2003 Kit update:"

Jabiru Amateur Built Kits, defined as Jabiru J200, J250, J400 & J450 Build Manual Rev.-,dated 6/4/2003, and parts list, dated 5/28/2003, has been evaluated by the FAA, Manufacturing Inspection Office and has been found to be eligible with respect to the "major portion" requirement of 14 CFR part 21, subpart H, section 21.191(g)

Therefore, an aircraft built from one of the kits identified in this message is eligible for airworthiness certification provided all necessary regulatory requirements are met.
