Say Concerns About Competition, National Security Must Be
The Allied Pilots Association (APA), representing 12,000 pilots
of American Airlines, asked the federal government Wednesday to
defer any ruling on American Airlines’ application for
antitrust exemption to allow for a full examination of related
national security, competitiveness and outsourcing issues.

ITT Corporation announced Wednesday it has successfully deployed
the Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Broadcast (ADS-B)
essential services system for southern Florida, achieving Initial
Operational Capability (IOC) by the Federal Aviation Administration
"We have decided to begin the process of selling Gatwick Airport
immediately." With that announcement -- issued this week by Colin
Matthews, CEO of British airport operator BAA -- one of Britain's
busiest airports is now on the market, in the face of an uncertain
economy and over protests by union workers.

Insurer Lives To See Tomorrow... But ILFC Likely On Auction
In a move that, until two weeks ago, would have been termed
"unprecedented," late Tuesday the US Federal Reserve agreed to loan
embattled global insurance and investment firm AIG a total of $85
billion, in exchange for an 80 percent stake in the 89-year old
Wall Street stalwart.

Company's Aerospace Status Hinges On Wins, And Losses
Boeing is using the lull in the KC-X tanker bidding war to put
some subtle pressure on the Pentagon, implying that a loss of the
contract to Northrup Grumman and EADS could add to an erosion of
Boeing's military technology capability.
Embraer announced Tuesday the sale of the first Embraer 195 jet
to Montenegro Airlines. The agreement also includes purchase rights
for two more aircraft of the same model. The value of the deal, at
list price, is $39.5 million, and could total $118.5 million if all
