FAA Issues NOTAM for Baltimore Bridge Collapse

Only Relief Operations Allowed Near Mariland Bridge Collapse

The FAA has issued NOTAM 4/1992 to inform aviators of a significant event that has impacted the airspace near Baltimore, Maryland.

The Francis Scott Key Bridge has collapsed, necessitating a search and rescue response. As a result, a Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) has been established to ensure the safety of the operation.

Details of the TFR:

Location: The TFR is centered on the Baltimore VORTAC (BAL), specifically on the 074-degree radial at 6.8 nautical miles.
Radius: The restriction encompasses a 3 nautical mile radius.
Altitude:  The TFR extends from the surface up to and including 1500 feet AGL.
Effective Date:  The TFR is in effect from March 26, 2024, at 1545 UTC and is permanent until further notice.

No pilots may operate an aircraft in the areas covered by this NOTAM except:

ONLY RELIEF AIRCRAFT OPERATIONS UNDER DIRECTION OF MARYLAND STATE POLICE ARE AUTHORIZED IN THE AIRSPACE. MEDIA CONCERNS REGARDING THIS TFR SHOULD BE DIRECTED TO FAA PUBLIC AFFAIRS THROUGH THE WASHINGTON OPERATIONS CENTER AT 202-267-3333.
