Airbus Helicopters To Begin H135 Production In Russia

Assembly Will Begin Next Year At At UWCA Manufacturing Plant

Airbus Helicopters will begin manufacturing H135 helicopters in Russia next year, according to Russian media reports.

The Russian news service TASS reports that an agreement was recently finalized with the Russian helicopter manufacturer UWCA. Airbus reportedly told TASS that the project is still in the planning stages, and requires UWCA to obtain certification from Russian aviation authorities. But the company reportedly told the news service that the agreement "creates a real potential for extending the scope of the local content (work or procurement) depending on the success of these helicopters and EMS services in Russia."

Airbus said that current EU sanctions against Russia will have no impact on the partnership, as the aircraft to be manufactured is a purely civilian model that will primarily be used on EMS missions.

The company is also reportedly in discussions to integrate some Russian manufacturers in its global supply chain, according to TASS.
