Airshow London Wins Popularity Contest

Canadian Ringer Takes Cold Despite All-American Competition

In the 10 Best Reader's Choice Awards Contest, Airshow London was named "Best Air Show in North America" according to the USA Today voting public.

The nominees for the airshow spanned a roster of selections from industry insiders and editors of the publication and 10Best.com, with a daily vote running for 4 weeks to determine the faves. Airshow London was the only Canadian one on the list, making its win even more impressive against some all-American faves.

In 2020, Airshow London has embraced a drive-in format, allowing its "SkyDrive" to be the only show to run during hysteria of the time. Since then, the drive-in format has stayed popular enough to keep around, tapping into the comfort of personal space and the novelty theaters long gone. ‘Drive-in’ is almost a misnomer these days, however, since it’s better described as a ‘tailgater’ revolving around aircraft and concessions. That’s a nifty little combo for families and friends, allowing for more creature comforts than the usual walk & talk.

“We are extremely proud to have been voted as the best air show in North America for three (3) years running. Being the only Canadian show nominated was already an awesome compliment but to win, wow, we are so thankful,” expressed Holly Doty, Airshow London Executive Director. “Our team of staff and volunteers dedicate so much of their time and energy to put on an incredible event for our guests, and this show of support from our fans across North America.

“We are so grateful for the continued support and participation from the Royal Canadian Air Force, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Marine Corp, and other organizations which attract a lot of attention from fans, locally and from afar,” says Gerry Vanderhoek, Airshow London Director of Air Operations. “The continued support over Airshow London’s eight years has been an integral part of growing the show’s reputation as one of the best military displays in Canada and the U.S. This type of recognition really puts London, Ontario on the map as a world class Aviation Event and something Londoner’s should be very proud of.”
